Tell me a little bit about your background.
I have almost 5 years of experience working in property management. I’ve worked with a wide variety of properties, from the luxury market to low income housing. My first 4 years in property management I was in sales and leasing before transitioning to working in management. Prior to entering the property management industry, I spent 8 years working in the spa industry.
Which has been more valuable in your career, your education or your experience?
Definitely experience.
What's the best thing about your job?
Working with the public and being a trusted representative for the residential community I work for. I also really enjoy hosting resident events and getting to know people on a personal level.
What’s the best career decision you’ve ever made?
Joining Birgo! I’m also very thankful I took the leap to explore the real estate industry 5 years ago.
What skills have you found vital to your job?
People skills, negotiation, organization, time management, the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively.
What advice do you have for someone new to the industry?
Always be open to learning more and try to treat your residents with unconditional positive regard.

Who inspires you?
My grandmother. She was the first woman sheriff’s deputy in Scott County, Iowa and she always taught me that I could do anything I put my mind to.
Dream job (apart from working at Birgo!)?
Maybe project management. I enjoy motivating people, overseeing projects and mapping success.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Orange.
What’s your go-to coffee (or tea) order?
I am a plain Jane. I like to grind my own at home and throw in a little caramel macchiato creamer.
Winter or summer? The beach or the mountains?
Fall, probably the beach.
What books or articles should I be reading?
My favorite books are How to Win Friends and Influence People, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and When God was a Woman by Merlin Stone.
What does a typical weekend look like in your household?
My husband and I usually hang out with friends for game night on Saturdays, or we have a date night. We try to plan something fun like visiting an arcade, signing up for axe throwing or we hit a new restaurant we haven’t tried yet. On Sundays we wake up late, I make us a big breakfast, we spend the day relaxing on the patio, where I read and he paints or gardens. In the evening we cook a meal together.
What are some of your best or favorite personal achievements?
I’ve been fearless since I was a kid growing up in a small rural town in Iowa. I have moved cross country 3 times and spent 3 years living solo in Chicago. I’m proud of my ability to take both personal and professional leaps.
