Whichever way you wander from downtown Pittsburgh, you are sure to stumble upon a neighborhood with lots to offer. The sheer number of neighborhoods surrounding Pittsburgh is something to boast about, but what is really impressive is how different all of the neighborhoods are. All of these neighborhoods hold different qualities and things to do, so there is a neighborhood for you to visit no matter what you are looking to do each day.
Want to shop? Pittsburgh has plenty of shops and boutiques all around the city. Two great neighborhoods with lots of shopping are Shadyside and South Side. Walnut Street in Shadyside is a shopper’s paradise. Stand-alone stores like American Apparel, J Crew, and more line the street and offer a wide variety of choices. South Side has a similar stand-alone setup and is host to BCBG Max Azria, Urban Outfitters, and many more.
Looking to be close to the sports action? The North Shore is home to two of Pittsburgh’s major sports teams. No matter what time of year, the North Shore is buzzing with the excitement of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Both teams have made our city proud, we won’t mention the 20-year losing streak, so if the Steelers or Pirates are playing, North Shore fills up with noise and tons of things to do.
In need of some nightlife? The South Side is home to countless bars and is always lively at night. Whether you are looking to chow down on a burger as big as your head while enjoying some craft beers or dance your heart out all night long, there are plenty of options lining the streets in the South Side.
Trying to find one of a kind food after a long day of boutique shopping? Lawrenceville has both. Home to some of Pittsburgh’s most talked about restaurants like Cure, there are an endless number of options for hungry visitors. Much like the restaurant scene, there are a countless number of boutiques to check out in Lawrenceville. Number fourteen and Pavement both have some of the trendiest clothes at affordable prices.
No matter what you are looking to do, Pittsburgh neighborhoods have you covered. From boutiques to nightlife and everywhere in between, the areas around downtown will not disappoint. Even better than having so many different neighborhoods to choose from is that they are all around downtown, so you can shop, catch a ball game, and see the nightlife all in one day.
